The Weston Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Erica Forti as Weston’s new Superintendent of Schools.
Erica comes to Weston from East Haven, where she has served as Superintendent of Schools for the past eight years. She began her career 27 years ago as a classroom teacher in the New Haven Public Schools. In 2007, she joined the East Haven district as a District Curriculum Coordinator and later served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction before being appointed Superintendent. Erica also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Connecticut State University, where she teaches graduate-level education courses.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University and a Master of Arts degree from Southern Connecticut State University.
The Board conducted an extensive search for our next Superintendent, interviewing six candidates and selecting three finalists. These finalists participated in multiple interviews before Erica was chosen to lead our schools.
We look forward to introducing Erica to the Weston school community and the broader town.
During this transition, the Board has appointed Tina Henckel as Acting Superintendent until Erica formally joins the district.
The Board is also pleased to announce the appointment of Tracy Edwards as Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services and Phillip Cross as Chief Financial and Operations Officer.
The Board would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Lisa Barbiero, Pattie Falber and Dan Doak for their dedication to the children of Weston. We wish them all the best in their retirement and thank them for their many years of service to our community.
Finally, we thank Debbie Low for her invaluable leadership as Acting Superintendent during this time. Her experience as both an educator and a superintendent has been critical to ensuring continuity. We are grateful that Debbie remains a part of the Weston community and will continue to be a valued resource for our educational team.
