Weston is a residential community in Southwestern Connecticut, about 45 miles from New York City, with a population of 10,037 and a Board of Selectmen - Town Meeting form of government. The Weston Schools serve approximately 2500 students and are located on a beautiful, 117-acre, wooded campus. September 2005 saw the opening of the new Weston Intermediate School, bringing about a reorganization of the schools. Hurlbutt Elementary School now serves grades Pre-Kindergarten through 2, Weston Intermediate School grades 3 – 5, Weston Middle School grades 6-8 and Weston High School serves grades 9-12. Weston High School recently completed a major expansion and renovation which includes a new science, technology and arts wing. The Weston School System is also currently engaged in a “strategic planning” process that promises to move the district to even higher levels of performance and recognition. This is an exciting time for the Weston Public Schools and the school district offers an outstanding opportunity for educators who are interested in being part of this development.
The Weston Public Schools rank among the highest in Connecticut in all indices of student performance. Ninety-seven percent of our high school graduates are accepted into highly competitive colleges and universities. Weston High School and Weston Middle School are National Blue Ribbon schools while Hurlbutt Elementary School is a State Blue Ribbon School. In addition to its reputation for academic excellence, Weston also takes significant pride in the accomplishments of its students in the fine and performing arts, architecture and design, and athletics. It supports and offers a strong co-curricular after school activity program at all levels. The school district is dedicated to forming strong partnerships with families and its entire community.
