In the wake of Monday's Snow Day (3.4.19), I am writing to update all WPS families and staff on the current end of year schedule for students. A separate note on the current end of year schedule for staff will be sent by Dr. Kenneth Craw.
Currently, Hurlbutt Elementary, Weston Intermediate and Weston High School have three (3) school days to make up due to school closings. The Middle School has an additional day to make up for a total of four (4) days.
The projected last day for Hurlbutt, Weston Intermediate and Weston High School, barring any additional school closures, is Friday, June 14. The projected last day for Weston Middle School is Monday, June 17, which will be a shortened day dismissing at 10:00 a.m. We understand that having one set of students finish before the weekend, and the Middle School students finish after the weekend, is not ideal. (This is the current schedule, which could change with another lost school day, for snow or other reasons.)
As previously announced, we cannot make up the additional day for the middle school on Monday, March 18, 2019 due to the scheduled professional development day for the entire district faculty. We are unable replicate the planned professional learning activities separately for the Middle School on a subsequent date.
Lastly, as occurs every year, the date for WHS Graduation will be set immediately after April 1, 2019. The date for the WMS Moving Up Ceremony will be set at the same time. I will immediately communicate those dates to all families and staff. Those dates will be final, regardless of subsequent school closures.
Thank you for your support.
