9-26-19 Weston High School Honored Among 2019 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools
WPS Friends and Colleagues,
Please join me in applauding the terrific accomplishment of Weston High School being selected as a 2019 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School. WHS was one of 35 schools and 14 districts honored earlier this week in Washington, D.C. The honorees were named from a pool of candidates nominated by 28 states. Please see the attached press release for more information on the Green Ribbon Schools.
Leadership for Weston's Green initiatives emanates from a broad scope of students and adults across the school, district and community. Notably, the application for the Green Ribbon School award was spearheaded by the Green Team Club, co-led by Collin Socha '20 and Graham Fay '20. A district-wide Sustainability Committee of administrators, staff, students and parents was launched this fall, which will identify ways that the Weston Public Schools from stem-to-stern may become leaders in Green policies and practices.
