Kindergarten Registration For 2018-2019
Dear Kindergarten Parent,
We would like to welcome your child to the class of 2032! We are looking forward to partnering with you as you begin your journey with the Weston Public Schools.
We know that moving from a small preschool to kindergarten can be a big transition for many children and parents. Based on our years of experience, we have found most children adjust to such moves very easily. We have arranged a variety of occasions for us to meet and begin cultivating a positive relationship.
Although it seems early for kindergarten registration, the information we collect through this process will help us to confirm the projections of the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) and to begin planning for the next school year. There will be two opportunities for you to drop off completed kindergarten registration packets on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in Hurlbutt Elementary School’s South House cafeteria – one between 1:30 and 2:30pm, the other between 6:00 and 7:00pm. If you are unable to submit your registration packet at either of these times, please contact Laurie Eagle at 221-6300. In the event school is closed due to snow, the make-up date will be Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
A completed registration packet includes a number of things:
- Completed and printed Infosnap forms from the Hurlbutt website. The link to the Hurlbutt “New Student Registration” is http://www.westonps.org/page.cfm?p=5779. Copy/paste the link into your internet browser for instructions to begin the registration process, and click on the yellow link for the 19/20 school year.
- Proof of residency:
- o Warranty deed, AND
- o Utility bill – telephone, gas or electric
- Copy of your child’s birth certificate
- Completed blue State of Connecticut Health Assessment Record (Connecticut State Law forbids any child from beginning school without updated health records and immunizations.) This form must be completed by your doctor and on file in the nurse’s office before your child starts school. This record should be up-to-date through the 5-year-old checkup, unless your child turns five after school begins. If this is the case, the Health Assessment Record should be complete through the four-year-old checkup and updated ASAP after your child turns five. Keep a copy for your records.
We cannot complete the registration for your child without: 1. completed registration packet, 2. proofs of residency, 3. birth certificate and, 4. health assessment record.
An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30am. This will give you the opportunity to meet the administration, and to learn more about our kindergarten program. We look forward to meeting you and working together for our children.
