Assistant Principal's Message
Welcome to WIS! Here at WIS we are dedicated to student achievement and meeting the individual needs of all our students academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally. Our district focus this year is on the teaching of writing and developing students’ abilities as narrative, informational and opinion writers. We have revised our curriculum this summer and are excited to continue on our journey of developing writers. We are also implementing a new math curriculum in 5th grade: Math in Focus. Now at WIS, all of our students will be taught using this new program and pedagogy.
Our social curriculum is a combination of Responsive Classroom and PBIS. Through the PBIS initiative in the state we have developed WIS PRIDE; personal accountability, respect, integrity, discipline, effort. We have monthly assemblies where the whole school focuses their efforts into developing our community as well as ourselves as members of a larger, global community. We pride ourselves in partnering with our students’ families to provide the best possible educational experience for each of our students.
This is the beginning of my second year at WIS as Assistant Principal. Before coming to Weston I was a teacher in Westport for 11 years. I am married and have two children: a 5 year old son who is beginning Kindergarten this year and a 3 year old daughter entering pre-school. We live in Fairfield and have spent our summer at the beach, with extended family, lots of friends and even went on our first camping adventure.
My door is always open so please call or stop by to visit. I am looking forward to another wonderful year as part of the WIS community.
