Message from the Assistant Superintendent

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Weston Public Schools. Our district prides itself on providing a personalized learning experience for our students. We offer a dynamic curriculum and a wide variety of programs and services designed to meet the individualized needs of our students. Located on a beautiful campus, all four of our schools are situated in close proximity, which allows for greater coordination and communication, ensuring the success of our students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

As the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, it is my privilege to serve the Weston community and guide the continuous improvement of our instructional programs. One of my primary responsibilities is the periodic renewal of the curriculum. I enjoy working with our curriculum instructional leaders, teachers, and administrators to refine the existing curriculum to align with the most up-to-date research and standards. We employ what is commonly referred to as a “backwards design” approach to crafting the curriculum. It is through our curriculum renewal cycle that our curriculum continues to evolve.

Our district encourages and celebrates innovation in teaching and learning. We have established an initiative referred to as AIM (Academic Innovation & Measurement) to promote innovation and prepare our students for the challenges of a global society. This K-12 initiative is unique to Weston and strives to explicitly teach the highest priority student outcomes (e.g. critical and creative thinking, collaboration, effective communication) and measure our students’ progress in achieving those outcomes. Through the AIM initiative, Weston has developed a rich array of authentic learning experiences to produce deep learning and measure student growth as they progress through our system.  For a more detailed explanation of AIM and the results of this work, please click here.

Technology is an essential tool that our teachers use to personalize instruction and empower students in the learning process. All of our schools have wireless access to the Internet. It is not uncommon to see our students using the network with their own personal electronic devices to conduct research, collaborate, or work on presentations.  Our schools' media center specialists, technology integrators, and technology department support teachers and students as they employ digital tools to enhance learning.

Weston is a community with a long history of being highly supportive of its schools. I feel fortunate in my role as Assistant Superintendent to work in an environment where students are our highest priority. I invite you to explore our district’s website for more detailed information regarding our AIM initiative, curriculum, and programs. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
